Celebrities and Domestic Violence
Yes, even famous people abuse or are the victims of domestic violence. Here is a look at some cases that have made headlines over the years.

Phil Hartman

Former Saturday Night Live star, Phil Hartman, was murdered by his wife, Brynn May 28, 1998. From Wikipedia, here is what happened: While Phil slept, Brynn came into the bedroom with a revolver that reportedly Phil had given to her as a present, aimed it at Phil and shot him in the head, fatally wounding him. Death was presumably instant. She drove to the home of Ron Douglas, a friend of hers, and said "I shot Phil," after which she passed out. Douglas did not believe her initially, but he found the gun in her handbag and understood. Brynn woke back up and drove the two back to Phil's house, where Douglas saw Phil's lifeless body. He called paramedics and the police, but when the police arrived Brynn fled to the bedroom where Phil was. Brynn pulled out a second revolver and committed suicide by shooting herself in the head. Brynn was extremely jealous of Phils success. She had attempted for years to become an established actress but even with Phil as her husband, she just couldnt break into acting. I have read in many places that Phil was seeking a divorce from her at the time of the murder not only because of the abuse but because she was an alcoholic and using cocaine. To read more about what happened, her is a site that has a lot of details about their lives and deaths: here

Eminem (Marshal Mathers)
For several years, we were always hearing about Eminem and his wife, Kim. Their relationship seems like it has never been a happy one. One of them is always hitting the other. I found this report as well when looking up information on him and his wife. Apparently one of his nieces and sister-in-law accused him of domestic violence as well. Many womens organizations have protested and made interviews about how Eminems songs may influence people especially young men and boys to go out and hurt their spouses, girlfriends, and mothers. He defends himself time and again saying he is against domestic violence and rape yet a lot of his songs deal with hurting Kim or his mother.
